John M Burns started out in the 1960s as an illustrator for Junior Express and School Friend later working on TV Century 21, Countdown and Space Family Robinson. He drew the daily newspaper strips Jane and Modesty Blaise reaching the height of his fame illustrating Judge Dredd for 2000 AD to which he still contributes today.
