Desperate Dan Annual 1 (1954)
From the Brenda Butler Archive.
Rare early misprint copy missing colour yellow from cover. Therefore what should have been yellow is printed cream, the 'reds' are pink and the 'greens' are blue. (It is unknown how many copies were misprinted in this way but this is the first copy we have come across since we started our auctions in 1992. Desperate Dan in a pink shirt? I don’t think so...). Radio Fun Annuals (1950) two variants.
The original Radio Fun annual for 1950 showed Tommy Handley on the cover but his untimely death in 1949 caused the annual to be withdrawn and redesigned with Wilfred Pickles in his place. According to our research some Tommy Handley copies were sent out to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa before withdrawal. This is brought out by the copy offered here which does not have the '7/6' UK price printed on the fly page but it does have a small sticker on the inside cover 'Frank Every's Book Shop Bendigo', Bendigo being in Victoria, Australia. Both issues [vg+] (2)
